This is your chance to experience Tanzania, enjoying a 2-week-long vacation, spending time in the second-biggest city in Tanzania, Mwanza, which is surrounded by Lake Victoria; enjoying Musoma beaches; visiting Serengeti National Park; and going to Bariadi in the Simiyu region, the home of the Mbina Cultural Festival, which will be happening on May 30th and 31st, during our trip to Tanzania. SCHEDULE

When you arrive, you will experience African drumming and dancing at its finest in the outdoors with one of the most talented drumming and dancing groups in Tanzania who will entertain guests at the reception dinner.

 

This ceremony will express the Kisukuma culture in its purest form by combining the powerful rhythms and high-energy dances of Bariadi and Simiyu.

 

 

May 30th - 31st 2018 Mbina festival You will become part of the annual Mbina Cultural Festival event in Bariadi, Simiyu which involves exhibits, pictures, crafts and music. This will be an opportunity to learn about the history, culture patterns, values, traditions and customs of Tanzanian cultures. This festival is a unique coming together of various communities and happens once a year as a harvest celebration. It attracts thousands of people who sing, dance and share the traditional music, literature and culture from their respective community. The guests who come for the African tour will be able to take part in the festival and enjoy all it can offer. You will learn various East African songs, including a traditional song that is performed in ceremonies as well as their history and dances. You’ll also learn how villages use ‘talking drums’ to communicate within the community and between different villages - a technique that is still in use today.
June 1st and 2nd, 2018 Visiting Serengeti The Serengeti is one of the main highlights of Tanzania North, and is world renown as one of the greatest safari areas in Africa. A safari to Serengeti would not be complete without also visiting at least one or two of the surrounding areas, including Ngorongoro and Manyara. The tour will take you to the Serengeti Plains National Park, the heart of wild Africa and a massive wilderness of 14,640 square km, where every day brings a new landscape and a new adventure. Your African safari will also take you to the Ngorongoro Crater, featuring one of the highest concentrations of wild game in Africa. Here you will witness an amazing spectacle of African wildlife inside a self-contained world featuring an unbelievable concentration of animals. Lastly, your trek will take you to the Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania's most dramatic wildlife areas, consisting of a shallow but huge soda lake, at the foot of the Great Rift Valley's western escarpment. Serengeti National Park Is one of the most famous and best parks in the world, located in the Serengeti ecosystem in the Simiyu and Mara regions of Tanzania, East Africa. The Serengeti National Park has thousands of animals and attracts many tourists every year. Some of the animals you will see include zebras, crocodiles, lions, eastern black rhinoceroses, leopards and honey badgers. Serengeti is famous for its annual migration of over 1.5 million white-bearded wildebeests and 250,000 zebras! You will also visit Serengeti’s neighbour parks such as the Mara Reserve, and surrounding beautiful places including Butiama, where the first President of Tanzania, Julius Nyerere, was born and buried. There is a beautiful museum there that we will visit.
June 3 & 4 Visiting Musoma, Mara We will continue our Tanzanian adventure by visiting the Mara region, which is not too far from Serengeti. We will spend a few nights at the capital, Musoma, where we will experience the beaches around the small city. Musoma has many attractions, such as a local market, fishing, historical churches and mission centers, forests, hiking trails and much more. The food in the region is the best since the locals are farmers! We will visit members of the Wakurya and Masai tribes and enjoy their cultural activities, such as music and crafting. While in Musoma we will visit the Nyerere Museum, which was established in honor of the founding father of Tanzania and its first president.
June 5, 6 and 7 Bariadi, Simiyu and Maswa Simiyu is a new region located near Serengeti, Mwanza, Mara and Shinyanga. The region’s headquarters is Bariadi, and Maswa is a district, which is in Simiyu region. We will spend three days in the area experiencing nature while visiting the communities and learning the Sukuma culture. While in Bariadi and Maswa, we will visit various villages, communities, forests and game reserves. We will be able to visit many historical churches and schools built by American and European missionaries who came to Africa many years ago. Also, the group will have an opportunity to attend various farmers market and activities.
June 8, 9th & 10th, 2018 Visiting Mwanza and Lake Victoria & closing ceremony. At the end of our trip we will head to Lake Victoria. Lake Victoria is a huge lake located in east central Africa along the equator and borders the countries of Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. We will visit Mwanza, the second largest city in Tanzania and one of the most beautiful cities in East Africa, built around rocks and mountains. It is located on the southern shore of Lake Victoria and is bordered by other regions. Mwanza is the home of the Bujora Museum, which has a large collection of historical artifacts and artworks, as well as crafts of the Sukuma people. We will visit Bujora and many other attractions such as the surrounding mountains and beaches and then board the Kamanga Ferry for a ride on Lake Victoria. We will also visit the Sanane island and Sukuma communities around Mwanza. We will be finishing our trip in Mwanza City where the closing ceremony will take place.
